In Transit
IN TRANSIT is a multimedia, collaborative exhibition that highlights young people and how they use art to pass through and across space and time. This experiment tugs on the nostalgia of the pre-Covid world while simultaneously encouraging artists to transmit their transforming lived experiences through the media of art. Abrams and Parker curated a cohort of artists to explore these thematic questions through a self-portrait — thereby, presenting a collection of intersectional stories of the delicate transition of time through art that encounters class, race, sexuality, and gender.
(idiom) in the process of being transported or an act of passing through or across a place.

The Start of Something
Acrylic on Canvas
2021
Influenced by the vocality and movement of Sam Gilliam's abstract paintings and the music of Rostam, Abrams created this diptych in response to the idea of community. Through this piece, Abrams explores the dynamism of a community in progress and the emotion that emerges from a community.

Going Negative
Photography Curated by Jane

To me, transit is a form of constantly evolving and growing as an individual. Moving through space and time as authentically as yourself to remain mobile. Avoid static, although sometimes inevitable. These photos represent my growth throughout what started as a hobby, capturing moments that are both past and present.
